With an Australian Mum???

Celebrities need to protect their names.  But these kinds of situations never feel right:  Katy Perry has been fighting in court for years, against an Australian woman who has almost the exact same name. Her name is Katie Perry . . . but she spells "Katie" with an "i.e." . . . and she owns a small clothing business in her home country.  Well, American Katy tried to shut her down or force her to change the name all the way back in 2009.

Australian Katie has been dealing with this chaos ever since.  She thought it was over when the Australian Federal Court sided with her.  But American Katy won't let it go.  She just filed an appeal. Australian Katie says, quote, "Not only have I fought for myself, but I fought for small businesses in this country . . . This is a case that I thought had an end in sight.  And yet the singer has chosen to continue to drag it out. "My label is my future, my dream, my livelihood.  And now there is a chance my trademark could be taken away."
