Oman wins SEVEN medals at the Special Olympics World Winter Games

The Special Olympics World Winter Games took place in Turin, Italy last week.

Over 1,500 athletes from 98 countries took part in the games.

Oman won a staggering SEVEN medals.

Hussam bin Nasser al Amri took home the gold in the 333m short track speed skating event and silver in the 222m race.

Retaj bint Sultan al Salmiya won bronze medals in the 111m and 222m speed skating events, while Al Baraa bin Malik al Battashi scored a bronze medal in cross-country skiing and Ameera bint Abdulaziz al Raisi won a bronze in the 100m speed skating competition and a bronze in the 100m snowshoeing.

The athletes had previously been training at Snow Oman and proved that the hard work and training was worth it, as they are the first Omani athletes to ever win at an Olympic Games.
