New sports and leisure hub launched at Airport Heights to boost youth engagement and tourism
Muscat – H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth on Wednesday evening inaugurated the Active Oman Centre and Action Point Centre at the Oman Automobile Association premises in Airport Heights.
During the ceremony, His Highness Sayyid Theyazin also unveiled the new identity of the Oman Automobile Association – Active Oman – marking a major step in transforming the association into a dynamic platform for youth and sports development in the Sultanate.
Following the launch, His Highness toured the centre’s extensive facilities, including the high-tech shooting ranges and a variety of modern sports and entertainment zones.

Integrated sports and entertainment destination
The Active Oman Centre is designed as a comprehensive destination that encourages young people to pursue their hobbies, refine their talents, and engage in creative and physical activities within a safe, stimulating environment. The initiative also aims to support the Sultanate’s broader goals of enhancing both the sports and tourism sectors.
World-class shooting facilities
The Action Point Centre features six indoor ranges built to international standards, equipped with the latest technology and safety measures, offering a professional experience for both amateur and competitive shooters.

A hub for modern sports and recreation
In addition to the shooting facilities, the Active Oman Centre includes:
- Padel courts
- Acrobatics zones
- Snooker and billiards halls
- A digital golf simulator
- Bowling alley
- Dedicated car and bike racing arenas
- An international-standard karting track
Brigadier Jamal bin Saeed al Taie, Chairman of the Oman Automobile Association Board, expressed his pride in this national achievement during his speech at the ceremony. “Active Oman is a pioneering platform that adds a new dimension to sporting and social activities in the Sultanate,” he said, highlighting the importance of fostering a secure and inclusive space for youth and athletes alike.

With the launch of Active Oman, the Sultanate takes another bold step in empowering its youth and promoting an active, vibrant lifestyle across the nation.
